The following is a letter Carl graciously shared with clients and friends of Sensenig Capital shortly before his recent retirement. We wish Carl a long, relaxing, and enjoyable retirement.
A little history for you…roughly 32 years ago an employment opportunity came along with a well-established investment advisory firm located in Wayne, PA, where I had a long-time friendship with the two principals. Weighing the “risk/reward” of changing careers and returning to college at night, with a young family and all that entailed, I decided to seize the opportunity. Joining the firm and learning the investment advisory business from the ground up was a great experience in many ways, thanks in part to my two respected mentors.
Some twenty years later I began to consider how I might best prepare a succession plan while helping to secure the long-term future for a new venture. That’s when I asked my son-in-law, Jeremy Brenn, with his newly acquired Finance MBA, to join me along with my daughter and first grandson (an added bonus), relocating from Frederick, Maryland to the Philadelphia suburbs. Jeremy and I formed Sensenig Capital Advisors in early 2007 and while the timing was quite painful due to the recession of 2008-2009, that environment set the foundation for our future success.
Sensenig Capital has grown considerably over the past 12 years and we have evolved into a full-service fiduciary, with a meaningful history, and the vision to continue building one of the finest independent wealth management firms in the area.
So for me, effective June 28th, I’ll move on knowing our valued clients are in very capable and experienced hands. It has been truly rewarding to be a part of the growth of our company and seeing our advisors and staff, help our clients realize their financial goals. And while it is difficult to leave something I’ve been a major part of these last 32-plus years, I’m excited about what’s in store for Sensenig Capital Advisors, knowing we are well prepared to serve our clients long into the future.
Holly, my dear wife of 43 years, and I are now looking forward to a little more relaxation time, recognizing there will be no shortage of things to keep us busy: our five grandchildren, volunteer work, and travel, just to name a few. I’ll also be quietly keeping in touch with the team at Sensenig Capital Advisors, now MY advisor. For your trust, confidence, and friendship through all these years, I am forever grateful.
“Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.”
